Environmental Management: Tubarão completes four more Environmental Agreement targets

Two years ago, ArcelorMittal Tubarão made a commitment to the population.

The projects, the actions and the change of mindset reinforce the concern of the company with the Environment. The teams are increasingly committed to a quality, safe and sustainable production.

Despite the difficult year we faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ArcelorMittal Tubarão, guided by the Evoluir Program, was able to continue the scheduled actions. A proof of that is that the State Environmental and Water Resources Institute (IEMA), the technical agency in the Environmental Agreement Monitoring Commission, concluded the evaluation this month, January, of four more targets and considered them completed. They are:

Target 25: Spraying of Ore Yard roads.
Target 60:  BP Coke Plant area drainage network.
Target 79:  Spraying of polymers on the Heat Recovery Coke Plant Coal piles.
Target 131: Hiring an INMETRO accredited company to collect gaseous effluents.
48 out of 56 targets evaluated so far have been considered completed. The other 8 targets are being re-evaluated by the agency. The challenges remain, but each completed target represents an advancement in environmental control.
