New Centrifuge: working tests concluded

ArcelorMittal Tubarão has taken one more step towards the assembly of the new centrifuge (Tricanter®), which will work in the refining of tar, a product resulting from the Coke production process.

Working tests have been carried out at the manufacturer’s facilities – Flottweg, in Germany, between October 21 and 22. The inspection was conducted with the support of SGS, a partner company, which monitored closely every detail. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and following preventive measures, the teams from Tubarão followed the tests remotely.

The teams were able to see photos of the components, videos of the tests carried out empty and with water (simulating load) and the performance reports for the parameters assessed. As the tests were considered satisfactory, manufacturing conclusion and the transportation of the new centrifuge to Tubarão site were greenlighted.

The new equipment is of utmost importance to meet Target 87 of the Environmental Commitment Agreement (TCA) and Conditioning n.6 of the Conventional Coke Plant new Battery 4 Installation License.
