The young Paulo Galatti’s dream of
competing in the Bodyboarding Pro-Junior World Circuit final, in Spain, is
about to come true. At 17, he is a low-income student in the Neymara Carvalho
Institute and was crowdfunding online to gather funds for the trip and has now
just formalized a sponsorship agreement with ArcelorMittal Tubarão, which will
sponsor his trip to participate in the last event of the tournament. The
partnership will be signed next Monday, October 10, in the company.
Galatti is one of the new
generation stars of the local sport and the only Brazilian representative in
the Pro-Junior category. With the steel company’s support, he will take part in
the World final event, which takes place in the Gran Canary Island from October
15 to 30. The young athlete sports winnings in his curriculum such as the 2021 Capixaba
Open, and the World Tournament in Marcona, Peru, in 2022.
ArcelorMittal Tubarão is a company
with a strong participation in the local sport, particularly the bodyboarding.
The steel producer sponsors Neymara Carvalho, five-time world champion and her
daughter Luna Hardmann, who won the Pro-Junior in Portugal in September. The company also carried out last July an
unprecedented bodyboarding event in the state: ArcelorMittal Wahine
Bodyboarding Pro, exclusively for female athletes, who came from different
countries to participate in the competition.
“This support is aligned with one
of our main proposals, which is to foster the practice of sports. In addition,
we will be helping a young emerging talent, dedicated and hardworking athlete,
who has every chance of bringing a new title to Brazil and now, with our
support, also has the opportunity for that”, commented João
Bosco Reis da Silva, ArcelorMittal Tubarão Sustainability and Institutional
Relations General Manager.
