All units have local Environment teams, formed by professionals with different expertise, who coordinate the Environmental Management Systems (EMSs). ArcelorMittal Brazil’s Long Carbon plants are certified to ABNT NBR ISO 14001, and undergo regular audits by certification bodies.
Each unit monitors and maintains the environmental licenses and authorizations for its operations and establishes internal goals to meet the demands of local environmental bodies, thus ensuring that the environmental aspects of its operations are compliant with the applicable legal limits. So, transparency is a guideline to address events and to serve environmental bodies and local communities.
