As partner of the São Francisco do Sul community, ArcelorMittal Vega performs social actions since the beginning of its installation, in 2001. In line with the guidelines of the ArcelorMittal Group, the company prioritizes transparent dialogue with the community, jointly developing improvements and solutions, seeking to value the particularities of the region or social group.

More than listening to and understanding the demands of the communities, ArcelorMittal Vega seeks to share experiences and knowledge to build solutions so that the whole society can evolve towards a scenario of full development.

  • School Contest and ArcelorMittal Environmental Award

    A pioneering project of the Environmental Education Program created by ArcelorMittal Vega, the School Contest has been held since 2001 to promote the production and implementation of sustainable development projects in São Francisco do Sul. The project has already reached thousands of students, sowing environmental awareness among new generations. To promote the initiative, the company provides educational material according to the theme defined each year to be worked on in the classroom, and promotes the Awards to recognize the best projects.

  • Cultural Scenario

    Since 2010, in partnership with Ilha São Francisco do Sul Cultural Foundation, ArcelorMittal Vega promotes shows of national and regional importance, at subsidized cost, for local residents. Tickets have symbolic prices and include the donation of non-perishable food, which is donated to charities registered by the Secretariat for Social Development and Citizenship.

  • Education and Employability Program

    The Education and Employability Program was created in 2005 by ArcelorMittal Vega in São Francisco do Sul as a way to offer quality training to young residents and contribute to the development of local workforce. Seeking to promote courses in line with the city's vocation, the project covered technical training in the area of services (commercial clerk, room maid, waiter, cook, nursing assistant, qualification for waiter and qualification for travel agencies), In 2018, an important step was taken: in partnership with SENAI/SC, the Electromechanical Technical Course was launched and three classes with 30 students were formed. In addition to the common instructions for the activity, students learn about Vega operations and are prepared to work at local industries.

  • Verde com Vida (Green with Life)

    Since 2007, students and teachers from São Francisco do Sul and neighbouring cities have had the opportunity to change chairs and desks for an open-air classroom. In visits to Vega's Private Reserve of Natural Heritage (PRNH), students undergo group dynamics and share experiences on the value of biodiversity.

  • Volunteering

    ArcelorMittal Vega keeps initiatives to promote the personal development of all employees through volunteering actions, such as the Warm Clothing Campaign and Fraternal Christmas. The initiatives are in line with the ArcelorMittal Group's vision, which considers volunteer work as a key factor to promote citizenship and strengthen the commitment of transforming tomorrow.
